On October 12, Emma Beatrice Farina presented a paper at the conference “Intorno a Minerva. Il contatto culturale fra mondo antico e contemporaneità” (Around Minerva. Cultural contacts in the ancient and contemporary world) in Breno (Brescia, Italy) organized by the Soprintendenza archeologia belle arti e paesaggio per le province di Bergamo e Brescia (Bergamo and Brescia Superintendence of archaeology fine arts and landscape) and the social cooperative K-Pax.
The conference brought together archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, psychologists engaging with themes of migrations and cultural contacts in the ancient and contemporary world.
Emma's paper, "Un approccio archeologico alla Rotta Balcanica. Mobilità informali tra confini e campi" (An archaeological approach to the Balkan Route: Informal mobilities between borders and camps) discussed the role of archaeology in studying contemporary issues and presented her work on the material culture of migration and homing strategies at makeshift camps.
