Date:
Event location: National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece
On Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, 2024 Claudio Minca and Valeria Raimondi presented research from TheGame at the conference “Denationalizing the past, denaturalizing the present” at the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Athens, Greece. The conference was organized as a closing event of the “1 Century / 2 Refugee Crises” research project, led by Principal Investigator Olga Lafazani, examining the entanglement of two major refugee migrations to Greece, both framed as “crises,” nearly a century apart (1922 and 2015).
In the welcoming session of the conference, entitled “Entangled Research Trajectories,” Claudio presented on TheGame project and preliminary findings, alongside presentations on three other major research projects on past and present migrations.
The following day, Valeria presented on “The Changing Geographies of Refugee Camps in Greece” in a panel on past and present refugee “Settlement” in Greece and Turkey, sharing findings from her ongoing research in mainland Greece.
Several other researchers from TheGame (including Yolanda, Vasiliki, Emma and Lucija) also attended conference sessions, learning from the diverse presentations and connecting with researchers also addressing issues of migration and encampment in the region.
