Legislative framework

Italy’s reference standards are as follows:

• With regard to students with disabilities, Italy’s reference legislation is Law no. 104/1992, as amended.
• As far as Specific Learning Disorders (S.L.D.) are concerned, Italy’s reference legislation is Law no. 170/2010. For further information on this subject, we also recommend the “GUIDELINES CONCERNING THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION OF PUPILS AND STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DISORDERS”, annexed to Ministerial Decree no. 5669 of 12 July 2011.
• With regard to special educational needs related to learning disorders, the reference guidelines are set out in Ministerial Decree of 27/12/2012 on “MEASURES FOR PUPILS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND LOCAL ORGANISATIONS FOR SCHOOL INCLUSION".
