Scientific activities continue for the LIFE NatuReef project with a new field mission dedicated to the monitoring of marine ecosystems. On board the vessel were Prof. Massimo Ponti, Fabrizio Del Bianco, Eva Turicchia, and Martina Franchini, engaged in instrumental surveys and data collection.
During the day, seabed analyses were carried out using a Side Scan Sonar, a technology that provides detailed images of the seafloor and helps assess the presence and condition of submerged structures. In parallel, water and sediment samples were collected for environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis, aimed at monitoring the biodiversity in the project’s intervention area.
These activities are a key step in assessing the effectiveness of the project’s actions in protecting and restoring coastal habitats.
