  • Date: 30 SEPTEMBER 2024  from 14:00 to 15:30

  • Event location: Online event

Prof. Massimo Ponti, coordinator of the LIFE NATUREEF project, participated in the online workshop titled "Integrated Approaches to Build Coastal Resilience," organized as part of the European Missions for Climate Change Adaptation and Ocean Protection. The event took place via Zoom on September 30, 2024, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET.

The workshop addressed the challenges European coastal regions, cities, and municipalities face due to climate change and environmental degradation. It brought together experts and stakeholders from the two EU Missions – Adaptation to Climate Change and Restore our Ocean and Waters – to explore integrated approaches for enhancing coastal resilience against sea level rise and extreme weather events. Participants discussed and shared insights on innovative solutions, including nature-based strategies, for integrated coastal zone management, protection, and restoration of marine ecosystems, while adapting to the impacts of climate change.

The event targeted regions and local authorities that are signatories of the Mission Adaptation and those that had endorsed the Charter of the Mission Ocean and Waters.
