LIFE NatuReef was chosen by the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to be showcased during the third day, Wednesday, March 6th, focusing on the theme: "Where next for Europe's Seas?"
The European Ocean Days, organized by the European Commission in Brussels from March 4th to March 8th, 2024, were dedicated to addressing maritime concerns.
The agenda encompassed discussions on the EU Mission on Waters and Oceans, forthcoming priorities for Europe's seas, advancements in blue innovation, and investment prospects within the sector.
Participating in the European Oceans' Day event themed "Where next for Europe's Seas? on March 6th, the Life NatuReef project aimed to contribute to shaping the future priorities for European seas. This endeavor involves considering political imperatives alongside broader global, economic, technological, and social transformations in Europe and worldwide.
Key topics addressed included Global Influences, Economic Dynamics, Societal Shifts, and Innovation. Each aspect was examined opportunities, facilitators, challenges, and their interconnectedness. Discussions encompassed short-term perspectives up to 2030 and long-term outlooks up to 2050.
The project is a testament to nature's capacity for self-renewal and regeneration, serving as a pioneering model of 'best practices' implemented for the first time in the Adriatic Sea. Through its active engagement, Life Natureef underscores its dedication to promoting the sustainability and preservation of Europe's marine ecosystems.
