The HPC infrastructure and S3 geodistributed storage platform for Precision Medicine is operated within the governance framework of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, in accordance with applicable regulations, institutional policies, and data protection requirements.
Governance Framework
The infrastructure is managed through defined organizational and technical responsibilities, ensuring accountability for access and usage, compliance with University regulations, and alignment with institutional objectives in research and data protection. The service operates exclusively within the scope of approved research and training activities.
Information Security
Information security is addressed through established policies and procedures governing access control, user authorization, and the secure operation of computing and storage resources. Access rights are defined, granted, and managed according to formal procedures. Logging, monitoring, and incident management processes are in place to ensure traceability, accountability, and timely response to security events. Access is granted according to the principle of least privilege, ensuring that users are provided only with the permissions necessary to perform their authorized activities. Security measures are continuously maintained and updated in accordance with evolving regulatory and operational requirements.
Data Protection and Privacy
The processing of personal data is carried out in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable University policies. Data are managed according to principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, data minimization, purpose limitation, and accountability, with appropriate access control mechanisms in place.
