The project

The HPC infrastructure and S3 geodistributed storage platform for Precision Medicine is a research infrastructure of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, operated by the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering “Guglielmo Marconi” (DEI).

The platform is coordinated at the Department level by professor Stefano Diciotti, responsible for the information security management and for the technical governance of the infrastructure within its operational scope, in coordination with the appointed system administrators and technical referents, and ensuring its alignment with the PNRR PE6 – HEAL ITALIA project.

The platform supports research and advanced training activities in Precision Medicine by providing high-performance computing (HPC) and data storage services within a secure and regulated institutional framework. It is designed to enable data-intensive and interdisciplinary research, ensuring controlled access to computational and storage resources.

The infrastructure operates within the University’s research ecosystem and is intended exclusively for research and training purposes, in line with institutional objectives and policies.

The infrastructure is operated according to defined governance and regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance with University regulations as well as information security and data protection requirements. Clear roles and responsibilities are established to guarantee accountability in access and usage.

The platform operates in accordance with applicable institutional policies, including those related to research infrastructures, information security, data protection, and acceptable use. Relevant policies are available in the Policies & Governance section of this website.
