The Deep Carbon Lab stems from research activities conducted in several Institutions in Italy and France and financial support from national and international entities. The lab would not be existing without the EU-funded ERC Consolidator Grant "DeepSeep" and the support by the BiGeA Department, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, Italy. The research at the base of the Deep Carbon Lab has also profoundly benefited from research activity at Institut de Minéralogie, de Physique des Matériaux et de Cosmochimie (IMPMC-CNRS, Paris, France) and Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra (DST, Torino, Italy), and earlier research grants including a Tremplin ERC (T-ERC) grant by the Agence National de la Recherche (ANR), France, a Rita Levi Montalcini grant by the Ministero dell'istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca (MIUR), Italy, and a Richard Lounsbery Foundation grant. I am profoundly indebted to IMPMC and DST and researchers therein for key scientific discussions. Through the DeepSeep grant, the laboratory has also received endorsement by the Deep Carbon Observatory, a ten-year quest to discover the quantities, movements, origins, and forms of Earth’s deep carbon.
