Video Analysis Framework

In line with the recent emphasis on assessment in the international debate on the quality of university teaching, the theoretical framework for video analysis defined within the VAHE Project is focused on the construct of Informal Formative Assessment (IFA) intended as a set of practices aimed at supporting the ongoing teaching-learning processes, fostering students' involvement and activation, and helping teachers to regulate their practices in response to students' needs.

The key processes and strategies underlying the IFA construct defined within the project are represented by the dimensions and sub-dimensions included in the Figure below.

A system of IFA indicators to be used for the observation and analysis of video-recorded teaching practices in higher education was subsequently developed by the research group and validated through a survey with a Panel of international and national experts.
