Research Phases and Results

The research project activities are structured in three main phases:

A) Phase of theoretical study and technological setting-up

  1. Review and in-depth analysis of existing research on the topic of video analysis and teacher training, functional to the modeling of the pilot training course aimed at UniBO teachers in terms of approach, objectives and methodologies;
  2. Definition of the theoretical framework for video analysis through the identification of the specific dimensions of university teaching on which to focus attention (see the IFA framework) and the subsequent development of a system of indicators for the observation and analysis of video-recorded teaching practices;
  3. Development of the technological infrastructures to support the realization of the project through the implementation of a videos repository of university teaching practices and the online platform for video analysis.

B) Exploratory research phase - Validation of the IFA indicator system through:

  1. the development and administration of a semi-structured questionnaire to a Panel of international and national experts to collect their opinions about the construct and content validity of the indicator system;
  2. the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data collected and the revision of the indicator system.

C) Evaluation research phase Implementation of the pilot course aimed at UniBO teachers and evaluation of the effectiveness of the video-based training model proposed through a one-group pre-/post-test design (initial and final assessment to measure the learning outcomes of the course in terms of changes in the beliefs, knowledge and skills of the participating university teachers).
