Project abstract

Agriculture in forbidding environments is a great challenge. Forecasts for population growth predict that before 2050 agriculture must feed at least 10 billion people. In addition, there is the absolute need of reducing the carbon footprint, as well as expanding yields of soilless agriculture. The work made by Polar Permaculture has been taken in consideration, and this helped in choosing feasible and innovative solutions for the market. Thanks to our effort, Longyearbyen agriculture will respect the mentioned conditions. Revenues coming from this activity will help Polardrasil project to develop new spaces for local community, and, by leaning on a dynamic and integrated society, transform it into a pillar for social wellness and inclusion. Last, but not least, creating a constant and performing energy production with renewable sources will lead to reduce the exploit of local coal.
