Summer School

Generative AI for Extremes

Date and location

8–11 September 2026
University of Edinburgh
Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Overview

The Summer School on Generative AI for Extremes is an intensive training event designed for PhD students and early-career researchers interested in the intersection between Generative Artificial Intelligence and Extreme Value Theory.

The programme combines lectures, tutorials and hands-on sessions aimed at introducing participants to modern generative modelling approaches for the analysis of extreme events.

The Summer School also provides an opportunity for participants to interact with researchers working at the frontier of statistical learning and extreme value modelling.

Topics

The programme will cover topics including:

  • Generative models for extreme events
  • Extreme Value Theory for high-dimensional data
  • Statistical foundations of tail modelling
  • Applications to climate, environmental and financial data

Participation

The Summer School is primarily aimed at:

  • PhD students
  • postdoctoral researchers
  • early-career scientists working on statistics, machine learning or data science.

An open call for participants will be published soon.
