Una Europa at Unibo
The University of Bologna's participation in UNA Europa was officially communicated to the Academic Bodies during their meetings in July 2018, specifically to the Academic Senate on July 17, 2018, and to the Board of Directors on July 24, 2018. The formal approval of the Cooperation Agreement was granted by the Board of Directors on January 29, 2019.
Given the wide range of competences involved and the complexity of the organizational structure required by the project and the Alliance, the Una Europa Sector has been established within the SSRD Division. The Una Europa Unit serves as the administrative center for managing the project and alliance activities. Additionally, it coordinates the administrative staff involved and supports the Vice-Rector for International Relations and the Una Europa Delegate in overseeing the working groups involving the academic community.
We are Una Europa
The 'European Universities' initiative aims to promote the structural development of the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area with the objective of creating genuine European campuses.
In 2018, from these premises, UNA Europa was born, an alliance between some of the most prestigious European universities, including the University of Bologna, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, KU Leuven, Freie Universität Berlin, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, University of Edinburgh, and University of Helsinki. This alliance represents a significant step towards the realization of an integrated, multilingual, and multidisciplinary European academic space, based on the principles of interconnectedness, inclusiveness, innovation, and internationalization.
Since its inception, UNA Europa has successfully secured several rounds of European Union funding to realize its vision of a European 'University of the Future.' In just three years, the alliance's pilot project launched nine joint programs, including Europe’s first truly joint bachelor’s degree, transcending the boundaries of disciplines, institutions, and countries to take international collaboration to the next level. Additionally, UNA Europa has made significant progress towards creating a common research ecosystem supported by a shared research and innovation agenda.
Guided by its 2030 Strategy, UNA Europa is working towards the creation of a truly inter-university and pan-European campus, rooted in the universal and fundamentally interconnected commitments of universities to society: research and innovation, teaching and learning, and societal outreach.
