Yezin Agricultural University Team

Yezin Agricultural University aims to be a prime mover of agricultural and rural development in Myanmar through human resource development, as well as a national supplier of scientific knowledge and technological innovation. Its mission and organization encompass the education and training of national human resources, in order to be professional agriculturists who will provide leadership and competences to institutions in the agricultural sector, while contributing to rural growth both regionally and nationally. Currently, the university has 1925 students enrolled and 180 academic staff. YAU offers different programs, including crop production (Agronomy, Horticulture and Industrial) protection and improvement, post-harvest and food technology, agricultural biotechnology, crop breeding, soil and water management, agri-business management, lowland, dry land and hillside farming system. Internationalization activities performed at Yezin Agricultural University include EU Projects (Lotus+, Erasmus+, NutriSEA), academic exchange programs, and cooperation projects with partner universities located in South Korea, India, and Australia. 

Nang Hseng Hom, Toolkit Local Team. She holds the position of Rector of the Yezin Agricultural University. After obtaining her B.Sc. in Myanmar, she was awarded a Master of Science and a PhD from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany). Besides her teaching and research activities, Rector Nang Hseng Hom has participated in the Strategic Planning Workshop for Yezin Agricultural University (SEAMEO-SEARCA, Los Baños, Philippines) and in the "Education Reform and Faculty Development in Japanese Universities related to Agricultural Science" for the Project for Capacity Development of Yezin Agricultural University (JICA, Japan).

Soe Soe Thein, Toolkit Local Team. Pro-Rector of Yezin Agricultural University. After obtaining her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the Yezin Agricultural University, she was awarded a PhD from the Kassel University (Germany). Besides her teaching and research activities, she has been involved in international capacity-building projects regarding the Myanmar National Curriculum Framework and the Technical Cooperation Project for Capacity Development

Kyaw Kyaw Win, Toolkit Local Team. Kyaw Kyaw Win holds the position of Pro-Rector at the Yezin Agricultural University, where he has also worked as professor and principal. After his B.Sc. and his M.Agr.Sc. obtained at the Yezin Agricultural University, he was awarded a PhD diploma from the University of Bonn (Germany).

Tin Tin Aye, Toolkit Local Team. Professor and Head of the Training and International Affairs at the Yezin Agricultural University. After obtaining her B.Sc. from the Instutite of Agriculture, she was awarded a M.Sc and a Ph.D. from the Kyungpook National University of Daegu (South Korea), where she has also worked as researcher. Besides her experience gained in her field of studies, she has also been involved as coordinator in the Lotus+ project, the “Nodes of Excellence in (SEA) Universities through spatial data-NEXUS” (funded by the EU), and the “Network of universities and enterprises for food training in Southeast Asia – NutriSEA” (funded by the EU).
