University of Kelaniya Team

The University of Kelaniya is located in the western province of Sri Lanka, 11 km from the commercial capital, Colombo. It has its origin in the historic Vidyalankara Pirivena, founded in 1875 as a one of the highly reputed tertiary education institutes committed to monastic education, the modern university was founded in 1959 and has nowadays 7 Faculties, 55 departments and 3 institutes. The University of Kelaniya offers 56 bachelor degree programmes, 35 between Masters of Art and Masters of Science and all the departments PhDs. The vision of University of Kelaniya is to be one of the most sought after international destination, with numerous global partnerships for excellence in the creation and dissemination of knowledge. Its mission is to broad base creativity, innovation and contribute to national development through international academic exchange including students and staff, international research collaborations, international resources and facilities sharing and international networking and alumni.

Mohottala Gedara Kularatne, Toolkit Local Team. Mohottala Gedara Kularatne is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics of the University of Kelaniya. After his BA in Economics from the University of Peradeniya, he obtained an MSc in Socio-economic Information for Natural Resources Management from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences in Enschede (the Netherlands) and a PhD from the Queensland University of Technology (Australia). Besides his didactic activities, Dr. Kularatne has been involved in many national and international projects.

U.T.M.I.D. Tennakoon, Toolkit Local Team. Ms Uduwela Tennakoon Mudiyanselage Inoka Damayathi Tennakoon obtained a Special Degree in Accountancy & Financial Management at University of Sri Jayawardenapura and improved her skills in several national and international trainings. She currently works as bursar at the University of Kelaniya.

Sachith Ranasinghe, Toolkit Local Team. Sachith Ranasinghe obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Commerce from the University of Kelaniya, several professional qualifications, and is reading for a Master of Business Administration at the University of Peradeniya.  Currently, he is lecturer (probationary) at the Department of Commerce and Financial Management of the University of Kelaniya.

Neelakshi Chandrasena Premawardhena, Toolkit Local Team. Prof. Neelakshi Chandrasena Premawardhena is Director, Centre for International Affairs at University of Kelaniya and holds the position of Professor at the Department of Modern Languages at the same university, where she teaches German and Linguistics. After a BA and an MA from the University of Kelaniya, Prof. Premawardhena obtained a PhD from the University of Siegen (Germany). She has also been Member of the programme committee for international conferences.
