The main objective of this project is to protect and preserve extremely rare prehistorical remains (e.g. human bones and bone ornaments). The application of advanced spectromic methods will allow to detect the amount of collagen contained in the precious archaeological finds and to know exactly where to sample.
Proteggere e preservare rarissimi resti preistorici, ad esempio ossa umane e ornamenti in osso, rappresenta il primo obiettivo di questo progetto, che verrà perseguito grazie all'applicazione di avanzati metodi spettrometrici. Questi, infatti, permetteranno di individuare il quantitativo di collagene presente nei preziosi rinvenimenti archeologici e di sapere esattamente dove campionare.
Obtaining new and excellent radiocarbon dates represents another crucial part of the present project. In fact, adding new chronologies and revising previous ones for the main Middle and Upper Paleolithic sites will provide a higher resolution and a reduced error range given the results of the RESOLUTION Project.
Ottenere nuove ed eccellenti cronologie costituisce un altro elemento cruciale del presente progetto. Infatti, per i principali siti del Paleolitico Medio e Superiore verranno effettuate nuove datazioni e ne verranno revisionate alcune elaborate in precedenza, per fornire una cronologia più precisa e con un sempre minor errore, grazie anche ai risultati ottenuti nell'ambito del progetto RESOLUTION.
Last but not least, central in the project is the creation of statistical models in order to better comprehend and piece together key events within human evolution, both on a local and on a regional scale
Infine, centrale nel progetto è la creazione di modelli statistici per comprendere meglio e mettere insieme eventi chiavi dell'evoluzione umana, sia su scala locale che su scala regionale.
