In the tropics, heavy rainfall and high temperatures often make cultivation on soil difficult. In addition, in large cities, the lack of arable land requires the adoption of soilless technologies, bringing agricultural production closer to consumption sites. In this context, simplified, low-cost hydroponics opens up new prospects for low-income urban areas. One of the pillars of this technology is the circularity of resources: recycled materials that become growing media, nutrients, or even building blocks of the hydroponic system. However, circularity cannot be improvised: scientific research provides the basis for designing truly sustainable and replicable circular systems.

We look forward to seeing you at a webinar open to the public, dedicated to the topic of resource circularity for simplified horticulture. We will share the experiences of researchers from the Rescue-AB research group conducted in Central America, and local initiatives that have emerged in the city of Nairobi. We look forward to seeing you there!
