FoodE: visit the site!

FoodE aims to accelerate the growth of sustainable and resilient City/Region Food System (CRFS) by bringing together citizen-led initiatives across Europe. FoodE seeks to build a "Think global, eat local mindset" with a view to addressing pressing global challenges that threaten food security while boosting the local economy.

International Student Challenge UrbanFarm

3 months of time to redesign 3 locations, having a look at the 3 spheres of sustainability.


This challenge, open to University students from several disciplines and from all over the world, address the design of urban agriculture projects in abandoned urban spaces. The challenge, organized by Bologna University Alma Mater Studiorum, is also supported by the International Society for Horticultural Sciences.
Multidisciplinary student teams from the Faculties of Agriculture, Biology, Architecture, Design, Economics, Engineering and Social Sciences, are invited to join the challenge and design innovative urban agriculture systems that integrate the best architectural and technological innovations for food production in urban environments. Their projects will target existing vacant urban spaces. Their design should have a strong entrepreneurial connotation, promoting the generation of new forms of employment for disadvantaged users.

The competition is open to student teams from all over the world, and teams may comprise students from different universities and universities of applied sciences.

ALMAVFARM: work in progress

The latest updates on the works in progress for the realization of ALMAVFarm, the FoodE pilot project developed by Flytech srl in collaboration with the University of Bologna. This experimental vertical farm will not only be dedicated to the production of food but it will also represent a place where to develop and promote student'skills to increase innovation in the field of indoor farming.
