Activities:

Surveys, stratigraphic excavations, 3D scanning and modelling of both the nuraghe and the residential structures, consolidation of the structures, educational activities for schools, experimental archaeology and experimental archaeology demonstrations for the public (experimental reconstruction of the dwellings and daily activities in the village, combined with augmented reality).

Chronology:

Settlement dating from the Middle Bronze Age to the Recent Bronze Age (1600-1200 BC).

Description:

The village, located in the “Su nuraghe” district of Nuoro, is part of an urban park covering approximately 7 hectares and consists of a single-tower nuraghe and several residential structures adjacent to it. The location of the settlement is in line with the principles of occupation and territorial control of the communities of the time, as evidenced by the presence of numerous other monumental structures in the surrounding area (e.g., the nuraghi of Tertilo and Ugolio).

The nuraghe, one of the few examples found in an urban context in a provincial capital, is of a simple type, with a single chamber, built on a terraced base in which the vertical walls make use of the large natural granite boulders found in the area. It is made of roughly hewn local granite blocks of different sizes (larger at the base and smaller at the top), without the use of mortar but instead using numerous stone fillings

The investigation of the dwellings adjacent to the nuraghe and identified in the three excavation areas (Sectors 1, 2, and 3) has allowed us to recognize dwellings that are predominantly rectangular in shape with similar dimensions and construction characteristics. Furthermore, these dwellings are often defined by internal subdivisions that have allowed for an interpretation linked to domestic use.
