The power of art lies in its ability to explore everything, even the field of science. In doing so, artists have found that scientific research is very similar to artistic research, but with a significant shift towards storytelling. Artistic research is not framed by the need to prove its findings, but is more akin to forensic research, where detectives investigate a field bit by bit to construct a story. This is how contemporary investigative art has adopted investigation as an open-ended process that leads artists to possible scenarios.
Learning from artistic experiences, the Kersnikova Institute has developed a method of education called investigative learning. In investigative learning, participants become intellectually emancipated from top-down knowledge transfer by exchanging knowledge, skills, and experiences with their peers. Children learn from other children with the support of an online gamified platform that is designed as a hybrid community of humans and machines.
