Since 2025, the LUMEN project has established a close collaboration with the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD), starting from the first important contact with Prof. Vito Comar.

During a visiting research period in September 2025, Prof. Silvia Bagni, coordinator of the project for the University of Bologna, had the opportunity to work with several researchers engaged in environmental projects in local indigenous communities. From this experience, two specific collaborations were launched:

- Centro de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Cerrado Pantanal – Composed of professors, technicians, and students from UFGD, UFMS, and UEMS, the Center promotes sustainable development and agroforestry initiatives in the indigenous communities of the municipality of Dourados. Within this collaboration, the LUMEN project contributes to exploring innovative agricultural and legal practices to protect the environment, the rights of local communities, and biodiversity, with particular attention to the challenges posed by climate change.

- Ara Poty Research and Third Mission Project – Coordinated by Prof. Lethicia Camila Dorce, the project carries out activities in two schools in the indigenous aldeias of Dourados, teaching children environmental education through horticulture and compost production.
