The Project

Context and objectives

The project aims to consolidate the existing relations between the Deartment of History and Cultures - University of Bologna, the Department of History - University of California Berkeley,  Department of History of the College of Staten Island - City University of New York and the Centre d'études classiques  / Département d'histoire of the University of Monteral, starting from the ancient and premodern area, and then expanding the collaboration to other disciplinary areas related to the Department.

The objective of this project is to structure "career workshops" to be carried out in collaboration between the four participating universities, in order to support students, graduates and PhD students at various levels in designing study and research paths in an international context. The workshops will be built in order to enhance the academic and scientific offer at MA, PhD and Post-doc level of the History departments of the participating universities,

The innovative character of the project consists of several elements:

  • organization of exchange activities between partner universities aimed not only at exchange mobility but also at mobility by degrees;
  • creation of networking activities aimed at increasing career opportunities for graduates and PhD students;
  • improving intercultural and international skills in the specific areas of research and professionalization of the students involved;
  • structuring a strong link between teaching and research, stimulating and enhancing the project and scientific initiatives of (under)graduate and PhD students;
  • development of a model of collaboration easily exportable to other areas and departments at least in the humanities.

 

The project is supported by the Internationalization area of the University of Bologna within the call for innovative initatives aimed at consolidating existing relations with overseas Institutions liked through Institutional agreements.
