Green solvents for the treatment of biomass

Use of green solvents and sustainable methodologies for the treatment of aquatic and terrestrial biomass

We are developing new sustainable techniques for extracting biofuels and high-added value compounds from microalgae. We are working on lipid extraction systems based on Switchable Polarity Solvents (SPS), reversible ionic liquids that interact with CO2 and change their polarity; and on the recovery of bioactive ingredients by using ionic liquids (ILs) or natural deep eutectic solvents (NaDES).
