Eligible candidates for the Call for Applications

People enrolled in a first- or second-cycle programme at the University of Bologna

The entrance competition for the Collegio Superiore is open to Italian and international students who are enrolling for the very first time in a first-cycle, second-cycle or single cycle degree programme at the University of Bologna.

 Participation in the Collegio Superiore call for applications does not replace the admission procedures for the University’s programmes. All candidates must duly complete enrolment in the chosen programme, in accordance with the procedures and deadlines set by the University.

Entrance exams

The entrance exam consists of:

    • a pre-selection through TOLC-SU – TOLC-E for the Humanities and Social Sciences area and/or TOLC-I – TOLC-F for the Science and Technology area
    • a written exam
    • an oral exam for shortlisted candidates.

For selections for the a.y. 2026/27, only the following types of TOLC are valid:

Entrance exam

The entrance exam entails:

  • a pre-selection based on the assessment of qualifications
  • an oral exam assessing both critical reasoning abilities and the knowledge developed by the candidate in their field of study.

Benefits and concessions

Exemptions, grants and residence

Academic year 2026/27

In academic year 2026/27, students enrolled in the Collegio Superiore Ordinary Courses are entitled to the following financial benefits and concessions:

Tuition fees exemption

All admitted candidates are entitled to an exemption from tuition fees for enrolment in degree programmes, with the exception of the regional tax, stamp duty and insurance costs (in a.y. 2025/26 the total amount was € 157.04)

Grant

All admitted candidates are entitled to a grant to partially cover the costs of meals and study (ranging from a minimum of € 1,500 to a maximum of € 3,000, determined on the basis of the ISEE value for subsidised right to higher education services)

Residence

Admission to the Collegio Superiore entitles candidates to accommodation and related services offered in the premises of the Collegio Superiore Irnerio Residence.
