Project

The UNIBO-UCSD Cooperation Project is a joint effort between the Biocomputing Group at the University of Bologna and the Division of Medical Genetics at the University of California, San Diego.

The cooperation project between the University of Bologna and the University of California at San Diego aims to:

  • Organization of new courses and seminars in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics.
  • Promote the organization of meetings and workshops
  • Funding and fellowships for Master and PhD students
  • Creation of a join lab for the annotation and interpretation of the human genome

In detail, the UNIBO-UCSD Cooperation Project promotes the application and development of computational methods to the study of the biological process and their association to the human disorders. This study represents one of the main scientific challenges with strong impact on the future of our society. Among the human disorders, we focus on the analysis of the cancer genome for which many sequencing data have been made available by international consortiums. The final goal of our research consists in the development of new methodologies for enabling personalized medicine.

The coordinators for the UNIBO - UCSD cooperation project are Emidio Capriotti and Hannah Carter.
