Calligraphy by Giovanni Gamberi

In Japan, the art of calligraphy has always played a very important role and has had different developments and meanings throughout the ages. It best represents the essence of Japanese aesthetic taste and has been investigated and practised by the greatest artists in the history of art. During the lecture, the fundamental tools and materials for the art of writing will be presented and the very important role it played in the West in the 20th century, for example in the developments of the new avant-gardes, will be explored. At the end of the lecture, participants will be able to attend a performance.

Giovanni Gamberi, has a master degree in Chinese Art History at Ca'Foscari, is a member of the Centro Studi d'Arte Estremo-Orientale in Bologna, with which he has been actively collaborating for several years. He studies calligraphy with the FeiMo Contemporary Calligraphy School.
