Lab Overview

BLESS Lab

The Bologna Laboratory for Experiments in Social Science (BLESS) studies the economic behavior of students, workers and any other type of population under controlled situations. It was officially opened in June 2010 and it will support the research activities of the STRANGERS team [ERC Starting Grant (PI Marco Casari), Grant no. 241196]  and of other researchers from the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna.

Bless is also connected to another experimental laboratory hosted by the University of Bologna, the Laboratory of Experimental Economics (LES), located in Forlì.

BLESS can accommodate up to 32 participants at individual desks, screened on the sides to avoid eye contact. It has three innovative technological features:

  • Mobile Lab: the entire laboratory, wi-fi connected, can be easily transported to a different location to run experiments outside its permanent site.
  • Touch Screen Laptops: participants can input commands by simply touching the screen of each laptop of the mobile laboratory. BLESS is the first and only experimental laboratory in Italy with these features.
  • High Reliability Multihomed Network: BLESS network is based both on a very fast Gigabit cabled network, and on a wi-fi backup network, making the overall connectivity fast and reliable.
  • Online Experiments

Recruitment

BLESS and LES share the same recruitment software, ORSEE, and cooperate in other scientific as well as technological aspects. When compatible with their main destination, LES and BLESS are open also to external users and researchers from other faculties. Please contact us if you are interested.
