Welcome to our new team members who join us in Brazil and India

The BIT-ACT Project are excited about having two new members on its team.

Clarissa dos Santos Veloso and Preeti Raghunath will assist our core team in the field in Brazil and India, respectively.

Clarissa dos Santos Veloso is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Social Sciences at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia and a member of the Metropolis Observatory Research Team in Belo Horizonte, in Brazil. She holds PhD and MA degrees in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. Her research interests include urban studies, qualitative methods, contemporary social theory, and sociology of culture.

Preeti Raghunath is an Assistant Professor at SIMC Pune, India. She has a PhD in Communication, and Masters in International Relations and Politics, and Communication. She is the author of the book Community Radio Policies in South Asia: A Deliberative Policy Ecology Approach' published by Palgrave Macmillan, Singapore, in 2020. Her research interests lie in the politics, policies and practices of media and communication, through lenses of equitable access and sustainable futures, and theories of democracy. She conducts ethnography in South Asia, and theorises from the standpoint of the South.
