The BIT-ACT team, known for its interdisciplinary corruption research expertise, will participate in the upcoming 7th Interdisciplinary Corruption Research Forum (ICRN). Having successfully organized the previous annual meeting in Bologna, the team is excited to share their most recent academic work at this year's event, which will be held at the University of Barcelona from June 15 to 17.

The ICRN is a network comprised of junior researchers from diverse disciplinary, national, and cultural backgrounds. The forum aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of corruption research. Over the course of three immersive days, attendees will engage in a series of presentations and co-creation sessions.

Among the conference highlights, Fernanda Odilla and Germán Bidegain will present their co-authored paper entitled "Civil society and political financing in Uruguay: when transparency is not enough to fight corruption." This  study will be presented in the panel titled "Corruption in the Americas." Odilla who is a researcher affiliated with BIT-ACT, and Bidegain, the project's country expert in Uruguay, will provide valuable insights on fighting corruption in full democracies.

Additionally, Odilla will be chairing the panel on "Fighting corruption in the (digital) public space." During this panel, BIT-ACT researcher Anwesha Chakraborty will present her latest paper titled "Digital affordances of civic tech platforms fighting corruption and malpractice." Chakraborty's research focuses on the role of digital technologies in combating corruption and malpractice, making her contribution particularly relevant in today's digital age.

Oksana Huss, also a research fellow within the BIT-ACT project, will be co-leading the co-creation section "Methods and Fieldwork in Corruption Research: On Practices, Challenges and Strategies". As researching corruption is not a trivial task, the panel will engage in a comprehensive discussion on the dos and dont's or conducting such investigations effectively and ethically.
