The BIT-ACT research fellow Oksana Huss joins decision-makers, civil society representatives, and academics at the Policy Forum on Open Government in Education, an online event hosted by UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP).

Huss presents her recent publication “Open budget: Learning from the Open School Platform in Donetsk oblast, Ukraine” at the panel “New technologies to facilitate citizen involvement: Lessons from experience” on November 17 at 13:00-14:15 (CET).

Co-authored with Oleksandra Keude, the study focus on how the country is trying to resolve the critical issue of non‐transparent school financing through parents’ donations that undermines trust among key educational stakeholders. The publication was recently launched by Bononia University Press and is an open-source volume.

The UNESCO’s online Policy Forum is an event designed to help policy-makers and programme implementers improve education service delivery and reduce corruption in education.

From 16-18 November 2021, participants will have the opportunity to discuss how to best implement open government initiatives and facilitate citizen engagement. The event will be also an opportunity to formulate recommendations for educational decision‐makers and planners on how to make informed decisions on the design and implementation of open government policies in education.

The Policy Forum will be in English, French, and Spanish. Register here.
