In the panel “Economic Consequences and Sanctions” of a foresight workshop “Navigating within geopolitical turning point: Foresight Workshop on the Future of the War in Ukraine and the Upcoming (In)Security Order of the Post-Soviet Black Sea Region” Oksana Huss elaborates on the effects of individual sanctions against Russian oligarchs. She argues about the need to critically reflect on and limit the role of the enabler of strategic corruption in the EU, which undermines not only economic interests but also the security of Europe. She also highlights that some issues, such as the energy embargo on Russia, should be framed not as sanctions but as the necessary steps to ensure the security of the EU.

The workshop takes place on 4-6.05.2022 at the Protestant Academy Loccum, Germany.
