The BIT-ACT researchers Fernanda Odilla and Germán Bidegains showcase their latest research at the IPSA 27th World Congress of Political Science, to be held in Buenos Aires from July 15 to 19, 2023.

The paper titled "Civil Society and Political Financing in Uruguay: When Transparency Is Not Enough to Fight Corruption" will be presented in one of the panels of the Research Committee on Political Finance and Political Corruption.

The study conducted by Odilla and Bidegain examines the intricate relationship between civil society, political financing, transparency, and corruption control in Uruguay. It sheds light on the limitations of transparency as a standalone mechanism in combating corruption within the realm of political financing.

In addition to presenting their research, Germán Bidegain also assumes the role of co-chair alongside Professor Marisa von Bülow for the session "Protest, Social Movements, Interest Groups." This session aims to facilitate discussions on the contemporary transformations in collective action, particularly those influenced by the utilization of new digital technologies and the emergence of populist actors.

The IPSA Congress serves as a prominent platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners from the field of political science to gather and exchange ideas on various topics. The IPSA Congress is one of the most important conferences in Political and Social Sciences. The event brings together a diverse range of perspectives, promoting comprehensive discussions and enhancing the understanding of political processes and dynamics worldwide.
