BIT-ACT team presents its work on AI in anti-corruption in Finland

The BIT-ACT research team will present their latest work at the IRSPM: International Research Society for Public Management 2024 conference. The conference, known for its pioneering work in the field of public administration, will be held in Tampere, Finland, from April 15 to 18.

Fernanda Odilla, BIT-ACT research fellow, will present her latest working paper entitled "Unfairness in AI anti-corruption tools: main drivers and consequences for public integrity" on Wednesday, April 17. With expertise in the intersection of technology and integrity, Odilla's work provides valuable insights into the challenges and implications of using AI in anti-corruption efforts by analyzing  AI-based anti-corruption tools developed by government officials in Brazil.

Carolina Gerli, BIT-ACT associate researcher, will take the stage on Tuesday, April 16 to present her paper titled "AI in Public Organizations to Tackle Public Procurement Corruption: Empirical Evidence from Italy." Gerli's presentation is part of her doctoral research and will shed light on the practical applications of AI to tackle public procurement corruption, drawing on empirical evidence from Italy.

The IRSPM conference, themed "Hybrid futures for public governance and management," serves as a platform for leading scholars and practitioners to explore innovative approaches to addressing contemporary challenges in public governance.

The BIT-ACT team's participation underscores their commitment to advancing knowledge and driving positive change in public management practices. Their contributions will enrich discussions and inspire new avenues of research in the pursuit of effective governance and integrity, including grassroots action.
