To what extend an ever-evolving process as digitalization is shaping the blurring boundaries between journalism and activism fields of action? How about the consequences in terms of the development of new types of practices fostered by the increasing use of digital technologies?

On  December 10 at 11.30 (GMT+1), Alice Fubini will address these and other questions at the 6th National Conference of Italian Doctoral Students in Social Sciences, hosted by the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II.

Titled “Open data e pratiche digitali tra attivismo e giornalismo: il caso emblematico della Fondazione OPENPOLIS”, Fubini’s paper explores the use of open data and digital practices by activists and journalists. During her talk, she will present the provisional results related to an Italian empirical case study. It represents an emblematic case of informative activism in which the entanglements between data journalism and data activism practices strikingly emerge within the framework of the BIT-ACT project.

The conference, scheduled for 9-11 December 2021, is entirely organized and addressed to PhD students. It is intended as an opportunity for exchange and comparison of research experiences, as well as for active debate on applications and theories of the Social Sciences.
