Our postdoctoral research fellow, Alessandra Lo Piccolo, presented her latest work on civic monitoring at the annual SISP Conference in Genova, Italy. Alessandra’s work focuses on the evolution of civic monitoring practices in the Spanish case, building on situational analysis and qualitative data. The paper outlines the key actors and practices of civic monitoring in Spain, developed in the context of multiple crises, and discusses how monitoring activities have increasingly diversified over time, intertwining surveillance and co-optation.
