Call for papers | Panel on Anti-corruption from the Grassroots

ECPR 2021 Deadline: Feb 8, 2021

The Call for Paper proposals is now open for the panel entitled "Anti-corruption from the Grassroots: Social Movements against Corruption in the Digital Era" which will take place at the next ECPR General Conference (31 August – 3 September 2021, University of Innsbruck, Austria). The panel is organized in the framework of the BIT-ACT research project and aims at connecting the BIT-ACT research team with other scholars who deal with similar topics in other academic institutions across the world. Please send your paper proposal/abstract to Fernanda Odilla (fernand.vasconcellos@unibo.it)  by 8 February 2021.

Anti-corruption from the Grassroots: Social Movements against Corruption in the Digital Era

Abstract

This panel aims to discuss bottom-up initiatives to counter corruption, opening room for assessing diagnostic and prognostic frames as well as exploring practices. 

We encourage papers discussing the role of technology, particularly digital media, and how it has been used by these movements and assessing circumstances under which civil society gets together, and citizen’s voices are more likely to be heard and to make a difference.

We welcome comparative and single-case papers addressing the topic from different perspectives and lines of thought and also with both theoretical as well as empirical approach.

 Proposals must include:

  • Paper title (no more than 20 words)
  • The abstract (no more than 500 words)
  • 3–8 keywords
  • Author and Co-author’s email address as registered in MyECPR
