Valentina Gianfrate, architect, PhD, research fellow in Technology of Architecture at the Dpt of Architecture, University of Bologna. Her fields of expertise are: systems and technologies for renovation of buildings, transformation of built environment, mitigative impact solutions for climate change, innovative trends lead to the construction sector. She is involved in several initiatives of international learning/training activities under Climate Kic Platform. She is author of several national and international articles about retrofitting technologies for existing buildings, sustainable design, and about the relation between energy measures and regulations with existing constructions.

Viktor Malakuczi is a Researcher (type RTDA) at Sapienza University of Rome. Collaborator at University of Bologna, being part of the DIID journal’s editorial staff, as well as a contract professor previously. His research interests revolve around the contamination of design with advanced digital know-how at different levels, from the immaterial design to digitally enhanced objects, up to digital fabrication. The main area of interest is the digital manufacturing and industry 4.0, where he investigates the consequent evolution of design practices, material culture and new functional-semantic values, with a special attention to personalisable and computational design. Around this theme, recently he has published a book titled “Computational by Design”.

Graduated in Industrial Product Design in Ferrara in 2015 with the thesis “Satellite innovation: exhibition on rapid prototyping”. He received his Master's Degree in Interaction Design in San Marino in March 2019 with the thesis: “Wearable device and mimetic devices for body tracking. Stress, Parkinson's and tremor as a form of prevention and awareness of one's own body”. From January 2020 he has a research fellow at the Advance Design Unit of the University of Bologna and works on the development of processes and methods to support teaching for product design, analyzes the tools and technologies of maker contexts for physical prototyping and digital with a particular focus on enabling technologies for Industry 4.0. It is responsible for supporting users of the Makerspace Alma Labor for experimental projects.

Graduated in design for publishing at the ISIA Urbino in 2015 with a thesis on the phenomenon of non-institutional digital libraries and their implications in the publishing ecosystem. He works with graphic design and web development in artistic and cultural contexts, focusing his activity on the intersection among design, culture and technology. Since 2018 he has been teaching assistant at the University of the Republic of San Marino and since 2020 he has been lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He is currently a research fellow at the Research Center for Interaction with the Cultural and Creative Industries of the University of Bologna.

PhD Student in Architecture and Design Cultures at the University of Bologna. Her current work focuses on the analysis of scientific production and critical analyses of design cultures. She is currently Editorial Manager of the scientific journal diid.disegno industrial industrial design. She earned an MA in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe, focusing on her integration process of the Western Balkan countries in the EU. During her professional experience as a researcher, first at the University of Zagreb and later at ECMI Kosovo, she specialized in migration issues, the social inclusion of marginalized groups and minorities, and co-participation strategies. Her extensive experience gained on the field working with the civil society in the Balkan area gave her the chance to engage in the project development sector, namely grant-writing for projects and fundraising among major donors in the region. These activities have paved her way towards the analysis of project design and new co-design methodologies for strategic inclusion, through culture and creativity as tools for increasing community resilience

Curator of exhibitions, since 2015 she is responsible for the contents of Bologna Design Week, an event system for the urban, cultural an human re-activation of the city.

Service designer, she works on participatory processes and community-led design. Her recent research interests focus on the collection and visualisation of data related to gender inclusivity and the relationship between culture and territory.

His research is focused on the impact of enabling technologies on collaborative innovation and design practice, where design is intended also as a training and knowledge distribution toolset.
Experienced in the development of co-design platforms, makerspace, living labs and methodologies aimed at facilitating strategic product and service innovation, his current interests lay around the adoption of artificial intelligence in complex, multi-stakeholder, participatory design and citizen science contexts.
Andrea is an award winning designer, consultant, trainer and technology transfer, co-founder of Slow/d and Junto Innovation Hub. Previously Adjunct Professor and Research Fellow, he is currently PhD Fellow at the Advanced Design Unit at University of Bologna.

Graduated in Industrial Product Design and with a Master's Degree in Advanced Product Design from the University of Bologna, she collaborates with the research group for teaching and research activities. In 2023 she obtained his PhD degree with a thesis on the role of the designer in the sustainable and circular transition of polymers, with an experiment in the textile sector. Today she is a research fellow for the development of a cross-sectoral platform for sustainable and circular textiles for Made in Italy on the PNRR - PE11 project, Circular and Sustainable Made in Italy.

He was professor of Economics and Innovation Management at the University of Urbino, the Polytechnic of Turin and the Polytechnic of Milan. He teaches at the Bologna Business School, dealing with management innovation and innovation driven by neuroscience. He is currently a research fellow at the advanced Design Unit of the University of Bologna, where he deals with applications of neuroscience in the workplace and on persons. 
He co-founded and is director of Neocogita, an Italian startup that develops technological systems and services applying neuroscience to well-being in companies. He is also co-founder and managing partner of Spinnvest, a company that transforms ideas, business models and innovations into startups in the field of cleantech, IT Digital, mechatronics and neuroscience.

He studied design at the University of Bologna, earning his bachelor's degree with a thesis on Time Compression Technologies. His master's projects led him to reflect on the importance of the psychological aspect in design, which he later deepened in a thesis based on cycling as a transformative practice. After a year of working in a research lab of the "Rete Alta Tecnologia", in 2022 he began a PhD program on mixed reality and its use in virtual learning and training environments.

PhD in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication (Politecnico di Milano, 2008), MSc in Industrial Design (Politecnico di Milano, 2002). Since 2023 he is researcher and lecturer at the University of Bologna. Previously, he worked at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2014-2022), Universidad de Chile (2015-2017) and Politecnico di Milano (2003-2014). His work focuses primarily on packaging design and identity systems design, with a focus on the communicative qualities of products and their informational, narrative, and symbolic dimensions. He also has a strong interest in social innovation and design ethics. In addition, he is dedicated to defining creative methods to support educational and design processes. Finally, he engages in experimental activities at the intersection of design and art to explore the therapeutic potential of creativity and its effects on people's well-being.
