On Monday, 17 November 2025, at 9:00 AM, the Kick-Off Meeting and Press Conference of the Jean Monnet Module CLIMOVE-U will take place at the Conference Hall, University Library, Palazzo Ateneo, Bari. The initiative represents an opportunity for in-depth discussion and exchange on climate migration, with a particular focus on legal and governance issues.
The conference will feature two distinguished experts from the LUMEN project: Serena Baldin, Coordinator at the University of Trieste, and Giorgia Pavani, member of the Research Unit at the University of Bologna and Director of the Center for Latin American Studies, coordinating the LUMEN project. The speakers will provide an interdisciplinary overview of the challenges and opportunities related to climate migration. The event will serve as a platform to discuss policies, regulations, and governance tools to address migration phenomena linked to climate change.
Coordinated by Prof. Pamela Martino (University of Bari Aldo Moro), CLIMOVE-U explores climate-induced migration, promoting legal and governance tools for the protection of climate migrants and strengthening the European Union’s role as a global actor in safeguarding people affected by environmental disasters. During the 2025–2028 period, the project will carry out research, training, and institutional dialogue activities, including university courses, workshops, legal clinics, and scientific publications, with the goal of building a European culture of climate justice and transnational solidarity.
The event is aimed at researchers, students, professionals in the field, and anyone interested in understanding the intersections between law, environment, and migration.
