Dr Fabrizio Gallai is a tenure-track researcher at IULM University in Milan. He has previously held academic and teaching positions at the University of Bologna (Forlì Campus), UNINT University (Rome), and the Universities of Salford, Manchester, and Bath in the United Kingdom. He also has extensive professional experience as a freelance translator and interpreter.
His research interests focus on cognitive pragmatics and (both public service and conference) interpreting. In particular, his work examines interpreters’ management of procedural elements of discourse, professional ethics, and the role of artificial intelligence in interpreting. He adopts a relevance-theoretic (Sperber & Wilson 1986/1995) and sociolinguistic methodological framework, with a strong emphasis on corpus compilation and analysis. He also conducts research in language pedagogy and specialised discourse—particularly legal language—using applied, contrastive, and interdisciplinary approaches.

Amalia Amato is Associate Professor of English Language and Translation at the Department of Interpreting and Translation, University of Bologna, Forlì Campus. From 2012 to 2021, she participated—as national coordinator and as a project partner—in six EU-funded research projects on  interpreting in police interviews, interpreting for accompanied and unaccompanied children in legal and migration contexts, remote interpreting in various settings, and the use of artificial intelligence to support simultaneous interpreting.

Her research interests also include interpreter education, media interpreting, and medical interpreting. She is an editor on inTRAlinea - online translation journal.

She teaches English simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, remote simultaneous interpreting, and technological and artificial intelligence tools for interpreting at IULM and SSML Carlo Bo. She is a member of the research team of the International Center for Research on Collaborative Translation (IULM). Her research focuses on new technologies in interpreting, computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) tools and the application of AI to interpreting, remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI), virtual reality, and English for Special Purposes (ESP).

María Jesús González Rodríguez is a lecturer in Spanish Linguistics for Interpreters and in Dialogue Interpreting at the Department of Interpreting and Translation, Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Forlì Campus. Her main research areas include dialogue interpreting, remote dialogue interpreting, court interpreting, telephone interception interpreting, humanitarian interpreting, and interpreter education. She has also participated in several international research projects.

Francesco Laurenti directs the Research Centre International Center for Research on Collaborative Translation and is a member of the Doctoral Board in Visual and Media Studies. He coordinates several international projects and serves as scientific lead of the Permanent Laboratory for Collaborative Revision of Translated Texts.
He received the award conferred by the Irish national agency for the promotion of Irish literature in translation, Literature Ireland (formerly ILE – Ireland Literature Exchange), for the collaborative translation Michael D. Higgins, Riprendiamoci le strade d’Europa (Castelvecchi, Rome).

Giacomo Pozzi is a researcher in Cultural Anthropology at IULM University’s Faculty of Arts, Fashion and Tourism. He carries out ethnographic research in urban and contemporary anthropology on issues of inequality, social vulnerability, and public policy across Cape Verde, Portugal, and Italy. From 2021 to 2025, he held a fixed-term research position (type A) in Cultural Anthropology at IULM University. From 2019 to 2021, he was a research fellow in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Milan–Bicocca.

Mariachiara Russo is Professor of Spanish Linguistics and Interpreting and former Rector’s Delegate for Multilingualism (2021–2025). She has been teaching at the University of Bologna, Department of Interpreting and Translation, since 2001. She served on the Steering Committee of the European Commission’s Knowledge Centre on Interpretation (2018–2020) and has been a member of the Conférence internationale permanente d'instituts universitaires de traducteurs et interprètes Executive Board since 2018. In 2017, she led the Foundation Course in Humanitarian Interpreting for interpreters working within the Territorial Commissions.
Her main research areas include Spanish–Italian contrastive linguistics, aptitude for interpreting, film simultaneous interpreting, remote interpreting, and corpus-based interpreting studies.

Barbara Sorgoni is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Turin, and a former researcher at the University of Bologna. Her earlier work focused on the history of Italian anthropology during the colonial period and on interracial social relations in the Italian colonies of the Horn of Africa.

Over the past fifteen years, she has conducted ethnographic research on contemporary forced migration to Italy, both within reception centres for asylum seekers and refugees in northern Italy and on administrative and judicial procedures for the recognition of international protection. Since 2023, she has been responsible for a Framework Agreement between the University of Turin and the University of Namibia.

Maurizio Veglio is a lawyer specialising in immigration law, a member of ASGI (Association for Legal Studies on Immigration), and a lecturer at the International University College (IUC). He is the author of articles and publications in numerous journals, including Cambridge University Press, EDAL, L’indice dei libri del mese, Persona e danno, Questione giustizia, AmeriQuests, Il quotidiano giuridico, Minorigiustizia, and Diritto, immigrazione e cittadinanza. He is also co-author of the volume Lo straniero e il giudice civile (UTET Giuridica, 2014).
His other publications include Uomini tradotti. Prove di dialogo con richiedenti asilo (2017), editor of L’attualità del male. La Libia dei Lager è verità processuale (2018, Seb27), author of La malapena.
