Project Partners and Collaborations

ULM — Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione is among Italy’s leading universities dedicated to languages, communication, and the cultural and creative industries. Guided by the conviction that linguistic competence and cultural preparation must go hand in hand with professional skills, IULM offers programmes that blend solid academic foundations with experiential learning closely connected to real‑world practice. Students develop advanced linguistic, communicative, intercultural, and technological abilities across various sectors—from corporate communication and public relations to media, cultural events, tourism, and the creative industries. This educational model also emphasises transversal skills such as teamwork, decision‑making, and effective communication, which are increasingly sought after in today’s labour market.

Alongside its teaching mission, research plays a central role at IULM, contributing to innovation in the fields of languages, communication, media studies, cultural heritage, and the creative industries. Research centres, laboratories, and interdisciplinary teams foster projects that combine theoretical inquiry with applied experimentation, strengthening IULM’s contribution to national and international academic discourse.

ICAHI project is grounded in a structured network of collaborations among universities, research centres, and professionals from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. This interdisciplinary framework reflects the complexity of the context under investigation and enables the issue of communication in asylum procedures to be addressed from multiple perspectives.

The involvement of professor Barbara Sorgoni, an expert in the anthropology of migration, and lawyer and lecturer Maurizio Veglio, a specialist in immigration law, provides our project with the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary depth required to address a complex and multifaceted field such as international protection. The contributions of researchers from different scientific domains make it possible to integrate diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, fostering an in-depth analysis of interactions within international protection procedures.

Ongoing dialogue with institutional and professional stakeholders represents a further defining feature of our project. Through these collaborations, the research maintains a strong connection with practice and with the concrete needs of those who work within the international protection system.
