The in-person meeting of the DoTPOWER project was held at the University of Florence in Month 12 of the project. The meeting enabled the partners to review the progress achieved and coordinate the next phases of the research activities.
A central part of the discussion focused on finalizing the process-to-product requirements to be adopted within the project. Drawing on the results of previous studies on rods, rod intersections and unit cells produced using the dot-by-dot WAAM deposition strategy, specific requirements were identified based on the results of geometrical, mechanical and microstructural characterization.
The meeting also included an update on the production of the WAAM rods. The University of Florence research group carried out a process-parameter calibration study aimed at manufacturing rods with a nominal diameter of 6 mm and completed their production. The partners then planned the forthcoming geometrical, mechanical and microstructural characterization activities on the manufactured specimens, which will be carried out at the University of Bologna.
