Resilient Septuagint

An exploration of the lexicon of “killing” and “healing” in the Septuagint and its reception in patristic and late antique sources (3rd century BCE – 5th century CE).
The project, funded under the PRIN 2022 program and supported by the European Union – Next Generation EU (mission 4, component 2, Prot. 20229E83B3 - CUP J53D23013060001), aims to establish good research practices concerning the reuse of Greek biblical texts in patristic literature.
It functions as an experimental laboratory within the European infrastructure RESILIENCE-RI, collaborating with its ITSERR project to test scientific and technological solutions based on artificial intelligence applications—particularly for integration into the uBIQUity platform (ITSERR WP8, coordinated by Anna Mambelli)—and to contribute to the drafting of entries for the Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint (edited by Eberhard Bons and Daniela Scialabba).

Objective and contents

The project aims to develop two experimental prototypes: the first, related to the Nutzungsgeschichte of the Septuagint, is a search engine based on the principles of vector semantics, capable of identifying semantic affinities through generative artificial intelligence; the second, related to the Wirkungsgeschichte of the Septuagint, includes a prototype of a process for the ontologization of its versions and a benchmarking system (specifically, a selection of patristic texts “enriched” with metadata concerning direct and indirect references to the Greek Bible)
