Video Pill #6: Interview with Vito Comar on the Rights of Nature and Indigenous Worldviews

The sixth video pill is dedicated to Vito Comar, Professor Emeritus of Ecology at the Federal University of Grande Dourados. The interview, conducted by Silvia Bagni in 2025 in Campo Grande, Brazil, explores the relationship between the Rights of Nature, the knowledge and cosmologies of indigenous peoples, and human responsibility in protecting ecosystems, highlighting traditional practices, integrated human-nature perspectives, and reflections on energy and ecological system resilience.

Video Pill #5: Interview with Liana Amin Lima da Silva on Indigenous Consultations and the Rights of Nature

The fifth video pill is dedicated to Liana Amin Lima da Silva, Professor of Constitutional Law at the Federal University of Grande Dourados. Conducted by Silvia Bagni in 2025 in Campo Grande, Brazil, the interview explores the role of participatory consultation protocols as tools for recognizing the Rights of Nature, engaging Indigenous communities (Guaraní Kaiowá and Terena), and protecting ancestral territories. It highlights local practices and traditional knowledge that contribute to ecological sustainability and community governance.

Video Pill #4 Interview with María Mercedes Ortiz García on Environmental Law and Legal Personhood for Mar Menor

The fourth video pill highlights María Mercedes Ortiz García, Professor of Administrative Law and Academic Secretary at the Faculty of Law, University of Alicante and author of several scholarly publications. The interview was conducted by Silvia Bagni, LUMEN project coordinator at the University of Bologna, on June 19, 2025, during Ortiz García’s Erasmus+ visiting period at UNIBO.

Video Pill #3 Interview with Federica Costantini on marine ecology and the ecosystem approach

In this new video pill, Silvia Bagni, coordinator of the LUMEN project for the University of Bologna, interviews Federica Costantini, Associate Professor of Ecology at the same institution and head of the Ecological and Environmental Genetics Laboratory. Active in several national and European research projects, Costantini brings a scientific perspective on how the ecosystem approach can inform marine environment management.

Video Pill #2 Interview with Michele Carducci on Law, Ecological Crisis, and Systemic Adaptation

This second video-pill features an interview with Michele Carducci, full professor of Comparative Constitutional Law and holder of the first university course in Italy on Comparative Law of Climate Change at the University of Salento. The interview was conducted by Silvia Zanini, a member of the LUMEN research unit at the University of Trieste, during the hybrid conference “Ecological Law and Ecosystem Approach for the Construction of a New Transcultural Eco-Legal Paradigm” held in Florence on November 19-20, 2024.

Video Pill #1 Interview with Prof. Ávila Santamaria on Constitution, Environment, and Sustainability

The debut episode features a conversation with Ecuadorian jurist and Prof. Avila Santamaría, former judge of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador and a leading voice in the field of nature’s rights. Interviewed on November 21st at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna by Amilcare D’Andrea and Valentina Capuozzo (postdoctoral researchers at UNIBO), Prof. Santamaría reflects on constitutional justice, biocultural rights, Buen Vivir, and climate action.
