The rule of Seeds in Africa: a Transcultural Eco-Legal Perspective

On April 14, 2025, the seminar The Rules of the Seeds in Africa will take place at the Social Sciences Campus of the University of Florence (Room D4/2.41). The event is organized by UNIFI within the framework of the European project LUMEN – Law of natUre and huMan Ecosystem approach: modelling a traNscultural eco-legal framework.

The round table will feature contributions from experts and scholars such as Veronica Federico, coordinator for the UNIFI research unit, Maria Stella Rognoni, Giulia Fontanella, Rachele Cecchi, Anna Pettini, and Silvia Sassi, all members of the research unit, along with Mariachiara Boldrini, Riccardo Arietti, Alessandro Francescangeli, and Alessandro Latterini. Together, they will explore the formal and informal rules that govern the use, conservation, and circulation of seeds in Africa, through a perspective that intertwines law, ecology, culture, and economics.
