UnaVEx – Virtual Exchange for Sustainability

13 November – 11 December 2025

At the University of Bologna, students can benefit from a wide range of international opportunities. One of them is UnaVEx – Una Europa Virtual Exchange for Sustainability, an online programme that brings together students from European and African universities to discuss and act on today’s global sustainability challenges.

Organised by the University of Helsinki and funded by Erasmus+, with the active participation of UniBo as a Una Europa partner, UnaVEx allows students to experience an international exchange without leaving Bologna. Across five online sessions – on 13, 20, 27 November and 4 and 11 December 2025 – participants will attend inspirational talks by international experts and collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to design concrete sustainability actions.

The programme is inclusive and open to all study fields. No prior expertise in sustainability is required: the aim is to create a dialogue across disciplines, foster intercultural exchange and build key skills such as collaboration, problem solving and communication in international contexts. Participation also awards 1 ECTS.

Two ways to take part

Moderators have a central role in the programme: they facilitate group work, stimulate discussions and ensure a collaborative environment. To support them, a dedicated training pathway is offered, including the MOOC Introduction to Sustainability (3 ECTS) and specific preparation sessions.

Why join UnaVEx?

UnaVEx is more than an online course. It is an opportunity to:

  • meet peers from Una Europa and African partner universities (including KU Leuven, University of Johannesburg, University of Nairobi, University of Kinshasa);
  • expand your international network and discover new cultures;
  • explore sustainability from different perspectives – economic, social, legal, political, technological and scientific;
  • acquire transversal skills that are increasingly valued in professional and research careers.

Through UnaVEx, UniBo reinforces its commitment to innovative forms of internationalisation, accessible to all students and designed to make a lasting impact on both academic and personal development.
