The European Commission renews its support for Una Europa's vision of a truly integrated European University
Una Europa has been selected for funding under the competitive Erasmus+ European Universities 2026 call. Through the new two-year project, Una.Via, the alliance will consolidate the achievements of previous initiatives in particular, 1Europe and Una.Futura, while strengthening collaboration across its eleven partner universities and preparing for the next phase of European Universities funding under the European Commission's Multiannual Financial Framework from 2028.
Una.Via will focus on three strategic objectives: efficiency, embeddedness and impact, designed to strengthen the Alliance and maximise its impact.
The project will streamline governance processes and reinforce sustainable international cooperation, making collaboration across the alliance more efficient and responsive. At the same time, it will further upscale and integrate high-impact joint activities in education and research, embedding successful collaborative formats across all eleven partner universities. Finally, Una.Via will enhance Una Europa's capacity to deliver, assess and amplify its impact, both within the alliance and in its contribution to the broader European higher education and research landscape.
Una.Via will build on the achievements of previous Una Europa projects by expanding initiatives that have already demonstrated their value while introducing new approaches to support the alliance's academic community.
Among its key developments there will be the Interdisciplinary Hubs, virtual inter-university centres that will foster collaborative research, education and outreach across Una Europa’s six Focus Areas. The project will also strengthen the Una Europa Training Academy, providing an alliance-wide framework for designing, delivering and recognising skills development pathways for professional services staff, academics and researchers across the partner universities.
Students will also continue to play a central role in Una Europa’s development: Building on the progress achieved through Una.Futura, Una.Via will further embed student engagement across all project activities, strengthening opportunities for co-creation, participation in the alliance’s initiatives and peer-learning with students from partner universities through virtual exchange.
