A Collaborative Learning Experience to Train the Sustainability Advocates of the Future

We are excited to offer a unique learning journey focused on sustainability, offered by a consortium of prestigious African and European universities, including the University of Bologna (UNIBO). This program is part of the UnaVEx project, funded by the European Commission, aiming to equip students with critical knowledge on sustainability through a combination of expert-led plenary sessions and collaborative virtual exchange activities.

In this program, you will:

  • Engage with experts: Attend plenary lectures delivered by leading sustainability experts.
  • Participate in Virtual Exchange: Engage in cross-national discussions and activities, working in diverse groups facilitated by a moderator.

This is a great opportunity for students who want to explore sustainability from a global perspective, collaborate with peers from other countries, and gain valuable insights into key environmental and societal challenges.

Who is this opportunity for at UNIBO?

This initiative is open to students from all disciplines and academic levels, with a special focus on master’s and doctoral students. If you have an interest in sustainability and wish to enhance your academic experience, this program is for you.

Whether you are from the humanities, sciences, or any other field, your participation in this learning path will provide you with interdisciplinary knowledge on global sustainability issues and allow you to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Learning Path Details:

The program consists of 5 online sessions of 3 hours each, hosted on Zoom. The following topics will be covered:

  • 24 February – Introduction to Sustainability
  • 7 March – The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • 14 March – Climate Change
  • 21 March – Biodiversity
  • 28 March – The Intersections of Political Economy and the Arts in Sustainability

These sessions are designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of sustainability challenges and opportunities in various contexts.

Requirements & Conditions:

  • Full participation: You are required to attend all five sessions.
  • ECTS Credits: Upon completion of the virtual exchange component (5 sessions), you will earn 1 ECTS credit issued by the University of Helsinki. Additionally, it is strongly recommended to complete the MOOC ‘Introduction to Sustainability’ (3 ECTS) prior to the virtual exchange sessions. Completing this MOOC will provide you with foundational knowledge beneficial for the discussions. Further details on the MOOC and additional modules can be found on the official UnaVEx page.
