Una Europa PhD Slam November 4 - virtual

Public science slam via livestream on November 4, 2021, will feature eight Una Europa doctoral researchers

Eight PhD students from member universities of Una Europa, an alliance of universities from across Europe, will compete in a virtual PhD slam on November 4, 2021, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

2 of them are PhD Students of the University of Bologna: Sara Bottausci and Fardeen Abdulrahman Dodo. Let's cheer them on!

The event is open to the public. Participants will each have seven minutes to present their research projects related to the topic of sustainability. This is the first time an event like this has been held internationally with viewers in different countries voting for their favorite researchers in order to determine the three finalists. Dr. André Lampe, a former physicist at Freie Universität Berlin, will host the event, which will be held in English. Dr. Lampe is also a poetry slammer and science slammer himself. You can find links to the live broadcast and to register to vote for your favorite slammer on the following website: https://berlinscienceweek.com/event/una-phd-slam/. Both will be made available shortly before the event begins.

The PhD slam is being organized by Freie Universität Berlin as part of its work within the international network of European universities, Una Europa. The event is also being supported by Berlin Science Week, and happens to be taking place at the same time as the annual conference of the University Alliance in Sustainability, which Freie Universität is also organizing.

Una Europa was founded in 2019 and receives financial support from the European Commission in order to pursue the goal of intensifying cooperation between its member institutions in the area of education and teaching. Eight leading European research universities make up the alliance, including Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna, Freie Universität Berlin, University of Edinburgh, Helsingin yliopisto/Helsingfors universitet, Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Kraków, KU Leuven, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. The members are working together to improve the quality of university education in Europe, to develop innovative teaching formats, and to promote exchange and cooperation between the institutions, their students, and their employees.
