An International Thesis Internship Opportunity within the Alliance

Bringing together students with researchers who work on topics in the field of sustainability

The University of Bologna participates in the Master International Research Internship (MIRI) project within the UNA Europa alliance. This project, designed for second-cycle students (Laurea Magistrale), offers the opportunity to undertake a thesis internship on topics related to sustainability at one of the alliance's partner universities.

Students interested in carrying out a MIRI thesis internship through the Erasmus+ traineeship call are invited to check the details of the opportunities provided by UNA Europa university faculty members in the database available here.

If interested, they must independently contact the professor at the host university and apply according to the procedures and deadlines of the Erasmus+ traineeship mobility call.

Master degree students could also check the availability of funding through the call for application for thesis abroad (Bando Tesi estero) promoted by their department at this web link: https://bandi.unibo.it/agevolazioni/borse-mobilita

Students using funds from the Erasmus+ traineeship mobility call will not be able to apply for internships at the following universities: the University of Edinburgh or the University of Zurich.

If funds from the Bando Tesi Estero are used, there will be no restrictions on the destination universities.

The UNA Europa alliance universities where applications can be submitted are:

  • Freie Universität Berlin
  • KU Leuven
  • Universidad Complutense de Madrid
  • Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Kraków
  • Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
  • Helsingin Yliopisto / Helsingfors Universitet (University of Helsinki)
  • Universiteit Leiden
  • University College Dublin
  • University of Edinburgh
  • University of Zurich

How to apply

Follow our three steps:

  1. Find a host.
Browse our MIRI database and find relevant research partners in our Una Europa alliance. Contact your supervisor at home and ask if he can contact them. Find out if the research team you are interested in can currently provide capacities for your research stay.
  2. Organize funding through your home university.
Your home university provides funding opportunities for internships. You can find a list of internship funding opportunities at your university here.
  3. Plan your trip and go abroad.
Once you have successfully contacted a host and acquainted yourself with funding opportunities, you should have a look at information for incoming students at your prospective hosting university.
